In accordance with this year’s theme TIME TO COLOR!, the exhibition “Hand + Art + Design” presents three new solo-exhibits by artist-designers each one standing out in a specific sector for originality and substance of their hand made creations, all of them one-of-kind or limited editions.
Letizia Marino creates phantasmagorical colour splash surfaces with hand spread acrylic and resins, so as to create unique tables and surfaces of strong pictorial impact. For SUPERDESIGN SHOW, she creates tables like art objects and backlighted paintings, characterized by a big variety of bright colours.
“I was lucky to have a mother who encouraged her children since a very young age to use paper, colours and many different materials to play and experiment; as a teenager, I used to go to my grandfather’s studio, he was a sculptor and told me to watch and learn while he was working on 6 mt high sculptures; I was enchanted by his craftsmanship and his passion. To play with colours, experiment with materials became my first interest, a necessity, an endless challenge and research that gives me energy and life. This latest project that I present and that I named Art Table was born from the desire to create unique art objects, usable in everyday life, not just work of arts to be looked at. I begun by designing tables drawn and curated in every detail, executed by an expert carpenter, which I later paint expressing what I feel, my state of being, what I want to communicate. Colour for me is life, joy, sensations, movement and to make it even more buoyant and alive, I refine my works with a special extra-shiny resin which gives an intense brightness to everything.” – Letizia Marino
