Expression Through Weave
Malin Iovino is a Swedish designer with a studio in London who is focused on designing tailor-made clothing and creating distinctive weavings for bags, accessories and interior pieces such as cushions and stools. For the first time in Milan, she presents “Expression Through Weave”, a selection of her best pieces, made with the unique loom technique of snören, the elastic cords produced in limited quantities by Swedish artisans. Craftsmanship and sustainability are at the heart of Malin Iovino's designs, beginning with respect for and thoughtful use of the raw materials they are made from: her focus is on handcrafted products that are worthy alternatives to mass production. The sensible use of raw materials then communicates a timeless appeal and meticulous attention to detail, which guarantee the beauty and the lasting effect of the artifacts for years to come. Attention to circularity also emerges from the recovery of any leftover cutouts of the leather printed and the usage of them for bags, wallets and keyrings: not only a sustainable effort but also a creative one, as it associates new graphics and colors with extremely classic items.
